Registrations received after January 31, 2025 will not be guaranteed a roster spot and will be placed on a roster on a first come, first served basis. PONY BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
A local recreation league registered with the national Protect Our Nation's Youth (P.O.N.Y.) organization!
The goal of OBSA's spring baseball and softball programs is to provide current and aspiring baseball and softball players a safe, wholesome environment with a balanced mix of teaching fundamentals of the game, how to play competitively, teamwork, sportsmanship and generally conduct themselves with class and respect at all times.
Who Is Eligible:
· all students (boys and girls) in Oswego SD #308
· all (boys and girls) who reside within the boundaries of Oswego SD #308

*Age Level is determined by:
1) If you are the age by August 31, 2024 (baseball) or by December 31, 2023 (softball), you will play in that level. For example: if you are 6 years of age today and will be 7 years of age by August 31, 2024 (baseball) or by December 31, 2023 (softball), you can play at the Pinto or Rookie level, or
2) If you are 14 years of age by August 31, 2024 (baseball) or by December 31, 2023 (softball) and are a freshman in high school, you can play at the lowest eligible level or you can play at the next higher level (intended for high school age participants) or you can play both but must pay both fees.

2025Season:
· In order to be guaranteed a roster spot, you must complete your son and or daughters registration by January 31, 2025.
· Season will consist of 14 games (10 games Shetland). Normally, teams will have 1 game on a weekday and one game Saturday or Sunday.
· With the exception of OBSA Shetland Baseball and Rookie Softball, all other teams are "kid pitch".
· Season practices/games begin around April 15th and end around July 1.
· Shetland, Pinto and Rookie Team Rosters will be selected randomly. No car pool requests please. Siblings in the same age group will be placed on same team
· Mustang, Minor, Bronco, Pony, and Major participants are required to attend evaluations. Siblings in the same age group will be placed on same team, unless otherwise requested.

Baseball Fees Include: Cap and jersey.
Softball Fees Include: Jersey, socks, and softball pant.
Early Bird Fee: In an effort to encourage parents to register their child by January 31, 2025, the “Early Bird” registration rate is offered.
Standard Fee: All players that register after January 31, 2025 will pay the standard registration fee. All players are encouraged to register prior to February 15, 2024. This will allow the organization to submit league uniform orders, guarantee timely delivery of the uniforms, and allow the organization to make the appropriate coaching assignments.
Withdrawal: Players wishing to withdraw, for any reason, prior to February 15, 2025 will be assessed $25 processing fee.
OBSA – Registration Refund Policy: There will be a $25 processing fee deducted from ALL refunds issued.
Ø Refund PRIOR to player draft / player selections – 100% Refund
(minus $25 processing fee).
Ø Refund AFTER player draft / player selections, but prior to 1st game – 50% Refund (minus $25 processing fee).
Ø Refund AFTER 1st game of season – 0% Refund
Ø (Special circumstance refund requests must to be submitted in writing and are subject to Board approval).
Ø If you are on the waiting list and DO NOT get placed on a team – 100% Refund (minus $25 processing fee).

Waiting List: Any registration received after February 15, 2025 will be conditionally accepted and are not guaranteed a spot on a team. Conditionally accepted registrations may be placed on a waiting list. Conditionally accepted applicants will be placed on a team on a first come first served basis. In the event we are unable to place your child on a team, your registration fee, less any online registration processing fees charged to OBSA will be refunded.
Equipment: OBSA will provide each participant with a jersey and cap. OBSA will also provide team equipment, including team bag, catching equipment, including catcher's mitt (baseball only), practice balls, game balls, scorebook and first-aid kits. Parents are encouraged to purchase their own helmets, mouth-guard, cleats (see below), facemask (for softball) bat and glove.
*NOTE: Only rubber/plastic cleats are allowed in OBSA In-House Baseball and Softball. The only exception would be OBSA's Colt League.
Allowed Bats: OBSA's Colt/Palomino League bats must be BBCOR certified, no less than drop three (-3) and no wider in diameter than 2 5/8" i.e. IHSA regulation. For OBSA In-house baseball, no bat shall be wider in diameter than 2 5/8" and all bats must have the USSSA BPF 1.15 stamp on the bat. OBSA DOES NOT ALLOW ANY 2 3/4" BATS
